Axis details#

Axis details adds optional descriptive metadata to the calibrated X and Y axes. It does not alter the calibration geometry or the numerical values GraphX calculates.

Labels and units#

In Calibration → Axis details, enter a Label and Unit for X and Y independently. For example, an X axis might use Label Temperature and Unit °C; a Y axis might use Label Pressure and Unit bar.

Both fields are optional. When a label is blank, GraphX uses the axis letter, X or Y, as a fallback. When a unit is present, it is shown in parentheses in export headings, such as Temperature (°C) or Y (bar).

Where axis details appear#

Axis details make tables and output easier to interpret. They appear in Data points headings, CSV and copied-data headings, PDF report headings, and other axis-labelled output. They are also saved with the project, so reopening a .graphx project restores them.

What axis details do not change#

Labels and units are descriptive only. They do not convert units, validate units, change calibration reference values, affect linear or logarithmic scaling, or change stored point coordinates. Choose the scale in Logarithmic axes separately from the label and unit text.
